Jazz Collective Sasha’s Bloc Partners With Grammy-Winning Vocal Group Take 6 On New Single “RUNAWAY BLUES,” Available June 3rd

The accompanying music video will also be available on June 3rd.

The critically acclaimed jazz collective Sasha’s Bloc has teamed up with the ten-time Grammy-winning vocal group Take 6 to release their new single, “Runaway Blues.” This enticing track blends the big band jazz sound from Sasha’s Bloc with the smooth gospel tones of Take 6 and will be available digitally on June 3. The single’s accompanying music video, which documents the groups’ recording session at the legendary Capitol Records, will also be available on June 3.

“Runaway Blues” features a sound that is a slight departure from the traditional 1920’s-40’s style big band arrangements that Sasha’s Bloc has become known for. With lead vocals by Take 6 member Alvin Chea and lush harmonies provided by both the smooth voices of Take 6 and the Sasha’s Bloc ensemble, “Runaway Blues” is a jazz, gospel, and blues crossover that is sure to strike a chord with fans of any of these genres. “Runaway Blues” is a story about life, love, and the ability to be honest with yourself. The song was recorded live at Capitol Records, in a room that Sasha’s Bloc bassist and bandleader Alex Gershman describes as “very much alive… It gives you goosebumps to think you were in the same room as legends such as Frank Sinatra.

Alex Gershman has previously collaborated with Alvin Chea from Take 6, on Sasha’s Bloc’s recent and well-received second album, Heart On Fire. Gershman says that he was thinking for a long time about combining all the elements he loves from jazz, blues, and gospel. When looking for collaborators to make Runaway Blues a reality, Gershman notes that he didn’t have to look far. “[While] writing this song I had Take 6 in my mind all the time,” he says.

The new music video for “Runaway Blues” features the musicians from both groups in the process of recording the track live at Capitol Records. Directed by Alex Chaloff with cinematography by Ricky Chavez, Nick Brosco, and Alejandro Echevarria, the video captures the magic that Sasha’s Bloc and Take 6 brought to the legendary studio.

ACCLAIMED ARTIST RACHAEL SAGE RELEASES NEW ALBUM CHOREOGRAPHIC TODAY

baroque strings and off-kilter but memorable percussion…fueled by triumph and feminine resilience.” - Baeble Music
New York, NY (May 20, 2016): Award-winning singer/songwriter Rachael Sage‘s full-length studio album, “Choreographic”, is available today via MPress Records/ILS/Caroline. Through this self-described “ballet-pop”, Sage delivers a musically ambitious and emotionally accessible tribute to her very first love: Dance. Fresh off the heels of her 16th song placement on Lifetime TV’s Dance Moms, Sage’s music has reached an ever-widening audience since her previous release “Blue Roses”, amassing over 9.5 million views on YouTube. On disarmingly honest songs like “I Don’t Believe It”, “Heaven” and “French Doors”, incisive lyrics and yearning melodies merge into something expansive. The lexicon of ballet may be French, but in Sage’s hands on “Choreographic”, ballet-pop becomes a decidedly universal musical language.

Connecting to her roots in ballet, the NYC-based Sage “envisioned each song as a fully-choreographed multi-media experience” while crafting the album. The result is an inspired set of piano-based chamber-pop merging orchestral elements with her signature blend of folk, pop and rock. “Making this album was a meditation on my lifelong relationship to ballet and more recently, to lyrical dance. Dance gave me virtually everything I cherish as an artist: melody, expressiveness, a sense of ensemble, a love of costume and fashion, and foremost, discipline.” Sage has several dance-centric videos in the works including one for the single “I Don’t Believe It”, which explores the topic of bullying and will feature 3-time national dance champion Kaci King, an eleven-year-old performer who reached out to Sage on Facebook.

ABOUT RACHAEL SAGE:
A soulful vocalist and innovative multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter and producer Rachael Sage has become one of the busiest touring artists in independent music, performing 100+ dates a year with her band The Sequins throughout the US, UK, Europe and Asia. RJ COMER RELEASES HIS SECOND AMERICANA-ROCK SINGLE “THE MOON AIN’T FALLEN ON ME YET”

MUSIC VIDEO RELEASES APRIL 15TH

(LOS ANGELES) April 13, 2016 - RJ Comer returns to his frequent themes of redemption and survival in his second release, “The Moon Ain’t Fallen on Me Yet” off of his recent six-song EP Nightly Suicide. The captivating single will be available April 18th with an accompanying music video that will be released April 15th via Growling Moon Records.

While most people find inspiration and romance in sunrises and sunsets, like a lone wolf RJ Comer has long looked to the moon for comfort when he was down. “The Moon Ain’t Fallen on Me Yet” depicts RJ’s nightlife—an allegory for his darkest and most lonely thoughts and experiences, but also—ironically—his sanctuary. The moon symbolizes hope, and is RJ’s wry and subtle allusion to John 1:5: “The light shines in the darkness, yet the darkness did not overcome it.”

Showcasing psychedelic imagery along with RJ’s shadowy, lyrical content, the music video authentically portrays the brooding singer-songwriter as he lures listeners with every line. Through his metaphorical and cryptic songwriting, Comer carefully peels back the layers of his dark side to reveal the light he seeks, and most often finds.

As America is both rural and urban, so is RJ’s take on Americana music.  With Nightly Suicide, RJ steps out of the southern American Swamp genre of his 2015 release Hell Hole Swamp and onto a decidedly more urban Americana-Rock terrain; replacing banjo and fiddle with electric guitars and a deep bass.  In support of his new release, RJ continues to tour primarily throughout the southern United States, but will head north for an official appearance at Canadian Music Week and a show in Chicago.

Nightly Suicide has been well-received with numerous positive reviews and significant radio play. Larry Toering at Skope Magazine proclaimed “…easy to play on repeat…. the songwriting is world class“ and Jessica Harrington of The Celebrity Cafe declared ”… amazing songwriting lyrical skills…. Each song is personal and poetic.“ MusicNotez Magazine told its readers “You can feel the pain and scars of past decisions dripping off every note and lyric sung.”  In addition to critical acclaim, RJ has been climbing the Americana Music Association radio airplay chart every week since releasing Nightly Suicide.

The Nightly Suicide EP focuses on RJ’s Blues-based, Americana-Rock influences featuring lead single and title track “Nightly Suicide,” which is his homage to Charles Bukowski—the poet laureate of barflies. The song also illustrates RJ’s early life, which he describes as “a lot of heavy drinking and nightly self-destruction.”

The EP also includes RJ’s upcoming single and music video, “The Moon Ain’t Fallen On Me Yet.” With “Moon” RJ returns to his frequent themes of redemption and survival.  The second single is expected to be released in mid-April.

As a performer, RJ has toured as a solo artist from British Columbia, Canada to New Orleans. He just performed four shows in Austin during SXSW week.  RJ’s powerful voice, his captivating and emotional live performances, and his infectious songs have garnered fans in biker bars, on Bourbon Street, and in coffee houses and concert halls.  Talents as diverse as A.J. Singer IDALEE Interviewed in NY Post, as EP is Released

May 8th Concert at Medium Security Reentry Prison in Colorado Springs is Confirmed
(Los Angeles, CA) - In a recent interview with The NY POST, singer Idalee shared details of his struggle with drug addiction, and his current efforts on behalf of prison reform. His new EP ‘Starting Now’ was just released, and on May 8th, he’ll perform at the Cheyenne Mountain Re-entry Center in Colorado Springs, a medium security prison.

Read Hardeep Phull’s NY Post interview here: http://nypost.com/2016/03/03/this-musicians-coke-habit-led-him-to-redemption/

Idalee filmed his music video/documentary for the song ‘Heal’ in a Texas prison, in late 2015. The clip premiered via Huffington Post and received over 50K views in its first week online. Watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5R8qoeRZnyA.

The song is available now as a free download via http://idalee.com/heal, as part of a partnership with non-profit organization Prison Fellowship.

Idalee’s music video for EP title track ‘Starting Now’ has been featured via multiple outlets, including this favorable posting via Rust Magazine: http://rust-magazine.com/idalees-new-music-video-starting-now/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuDJhdCrM24

NY POST INTERVIEW FEATURE – By Hardeep Phull 3/3/16 This musician’s coke habit led him to redemption http://nypost.com/2016/03/03/this-musicians-coke-habit-led-him-to-redemption/ After a close call with the law, singer-songwriter Topher Hall kicked his drug habit and began work on a new collection of pop tunes.

When it comes to wake-up calls, few speak louder than regaining consciousness in a hospital and finding yourself under arrest. That’s what happened to Topher Hall in December 2010. Hooked on cocaine and booze, the aspiring singer-songwriter had arranged to meet his dealer in a Cheesecake Factory in Leesburg, Va. While waiting, Hall knocked back several vodkas and, realizing his dealer wasn’t showing up, got in his car and tried to make the 10-mile journey home. He almost made it, but ended up crashing into a parked government vehicle just yards from his driveway. His head hit the windshield — thankfully, no one else was hurt.

“While I was in the hospital, I talked to myself, I talked to God,” Hall tells The Post. “I knew the next time, I’d be dead.”
Since then, he’s kept his drug intake to just nicotine and black coffee, and his new, upbeat mindset is reflected in the alternative-pop of his new solo EP “Starting Now” (out now), which Hall is releasing under the name Idalee (after Ida Lee Park in Leesburg.)). It’s the second shot at success the 30-year-old thought he would never get, after his first attempt disappeared in a cycle of drug abuse. During the mid-aughts, his first band, Nothing Special, was recording demos in LA for Geffen Records. But just as a breakthrough was looming, Hall’s addictions got in the way.
“I remember one time being up for five days on cocaine and crystal meth, hallucinating,” he says. “Those were the bottom-of-the-barrel days.” During these benders, bottles of Naked Juice were the only form of nutrition Hall and his circle of fellow drug users would take. Friends — like Hollywood character actor Leslie Jordan (famous for his role in “Will & Grace”) — tried to turn Hall around, encouraging him to go to rehab. But to no avail; Hall moved back to Virginia, with no intention of kicking his habit.
Hall narrowly avoided jail following the accident (a 60-day sentence was commuted) and eventually kicked his habits with the help of a 12-week outpatient rehab program. After his brush with the law, Hall began volunteering with the Prison Fellowship program, which helps prisoners get retrained with skills to help them adapt more easily to life on the outside. He works on the program’s video productions, documenting felons who are hoping for another chance to live a normal life — like the one Hall was lucky enough to get. “I live in Phoenix now, and the attitude is very much ‘lock them up, and throw away the key,’ ” he says. “The stat that really strikes me is that around 95 percent of prisoners return home to our communities. So the stuff that happens behind the walls matters.” But with the music industry now regrouping around his songwriting talents, Hall is hopeful he can launch his career for real. “I’ve got tons of songs ready to go. I’d love to share the stage with the Taylor Swifts and Ed Sheerans of the world, but I’m realistic. Just living off music would be great.”

Singer Topher Hall is the embodiment of second chances, and he has reimagined himself as performer Idalee. It started with Hall drunk and high on cocaine, his head through the windshield, as he plowed his car into a parked government vehicle. His battle with addiction has evolved into a riveting tale of redemption, as Idalee advocates for prison reform and delivers an intense music video/documentary that highlights his song ‘Heal’ and reveals striking footage of inmates at a prison in Houston, Texas (who joined him on camera for interviews and a live performance of the song).

Idalee’s alt/folk/rock debut EP ‘Starting Now’ was released March 4th. It’s a meaty, lyrically dense collection that includes such highlights as ‘Barbarian’, ‘Some Day’, ‘Home’ and ‘Tree Got Rain’. Influences include Nirvana, Elvis Costello, Weezer, Imagine Dragons, as well as Cage The Elephant, Ben Folds and Beck. The EP was produced by Ethan Kauffman (Ryan Cabrera) and mixed by Will Brierre (The Killers’ Grammy-nominated Hot Fuss, Imagine Dragons’ Nightvisions). Learn more about the story of Idalee, here: http://idalee.com/about/ Focus track ‘Heal’, mentioned above, is where Idalee’s advocacy for criminal justice reform takes flight, as he partners with non-profit Prison Fellowship to raise awareness via a collaborative Music Video/Documentary project – more details will be announced soon. Idalee provided this commentary to HuffPost:
“What does a second chance sound like? That’s what I wanted to know when I started scratching out the lyrics for ‘Heal.’ Five years earlier, I had put my head through a windshield while deep into substance abuse. I woke up in the hospital and under arrest. Though I’d had a demo deal with Geffen Records and a great team by my side, my addiction torpedoed my music career and nearly cost me my life. But my accident turned out to be grace in disguise. After a period of self-reflection, I returned to why I loved music in the first place—it can move people, and it can heal people. I started going into prison with Prison Fellowship, the nation’s largest outreach to incarcerated people and their families. I met guys who were no different than me. I heard their stories, their regrets, and their hopes. I asked myself, Is it really best just to lock people up forever? Is there a point where the debt’s been paid and their potential can be reborn? All those thoughts eventually poured out into 'Heal.’ Recently, I had an extraordinary chance to film 'Heal’ behind bars with a Texas prisoner band for this video. It was an experience I will remember as long as I live. So, yes, 'Heal’ is a song about those guys and the millions of incarcerated people they represent. But it’s also about all of us. We all fall. We all fail. We all cry out for unexpected moments of amazing grace to come and help us start again. I think if we’re honest with ourselves, anyone can relate to that struggle, and I hope 'Heal’ gives people hope that their worst moment doesn’t have to define them.

More About Topher Hall/Idalee:
Past: Ida Lee is the Northern Virginia park where Topher’s first band and their actor friend spent time breaking the law in middle/high school. It’s also where they decided to move to California and shoot for the stars. Topher moved to LA from Virginia, lived there for 3 years or so, and secured a development deal with Geffen Records, working with Evan Peters. Evan and Thom Panunzio produced a short EP, but drugs and squirrely friends in the LA scene provided the distraction necessary to totally let the opportunity slip away. He then moved to Northern Virginia and started working various odd jobs. After a drug-induced car crash, he woke up in the hospital and finally woke up to the demons holding him back. He pled out of his proposed jail time and escaped with only a DUI conviction, fines and parole officer. Serendipitously, he found a job down the street at a prison nonprofit that advocates for restorative justice on capital hill and in the prisons themselves.

Current: He performed in a Houston area prison late 2015 with prisoner musicians supporting the performance. He is slated to perform in prisons in 2016 and release a 6-song EP called ”Starting Now.” Idalee is living, breathing second chance. His rocky past made him who he is, but he’s been clean for several years and striving to make a better life and society. He is a writer first, singer second and guitarist third. He’s watching sci-fi movies and reruns of the Simpsons. His ethos is part Elvis Costello and part Kurt Cobain, which is fitting because those are two major influences of his. He’s got plenty dumb looking glasses and cheap wool sports coats. His voice is humble, and he’s not super outgoing, and although he works in some depressing areas of human existence, he’s got a great sense of humor and shares it online and off.

COMER’S HIGHLY ANTIPICATED EP WILL BE RELEASED MARCH 25th

(Los Angeles, CA) March 2, 2016—Formerly the front man of the Dance Hall Pimps, RJ Comer redefines his musical style with a stripped down version of Americana Rock. RJ released his new single “Nightly Suicide” on February 26th with an accompanying music video due out March 7th. This is first single off of his upcoming EP also named, Nightly Suicide and will be released on March 25th.

The metaphorical title track is RJ’s homage to Charles Bukowski—the poet laureate of barflies.  The song also illustrates RJ’s early life, which he describes as “a lot of heavy drinking and nightly self-destruction.”  Comer’s gritty, soulful vocals and dark riffs authentically convey the stark and sometimes surreal lyrics and imagery of the song.

“I like songs and music videos that tell stories; they put the emotion of the song in a more powerful context than just singing ‘I feel this way; I feel that way.’”RJ Comer

The music video is inspired by Bukowski’s screenplay Barfly.  Marcos Tinez plays the younger RJ, a lonesome alcoholic who is wearing the identical hat RJ is wearing in other clips of the music video to connect past and present. Directed by Guillermo Rodriguez, “Nightly Suicide” was filmed in Granada, Spain and at Los Angeles’s legendary music venue, The Mint.

The soon-to-be released EP Nightly Suicide will be available for presale on March 11th.

Soul Music Great Charles Wright Drops Black History Month Bombshell “Up from Where We’ve Come” – A Historical Autobiography Detailing the Racism and Hardship the Wright Family Faced as Sharecroppers Near Clarksdale, Mississippi Circa The ‘40s and early '50s

(Los Angeles, CA—January 21, 2015) Among the most profound new literary entries to be released this February in Black History Month is a bitter true to life tome from culturally conscious Rhythm & Blues legend Charles Wright, the singer/songwriter/guitarist best known for singing and composing '70s Soul smash “Express Yourself” still heard daily on radio, in movies and dozens of television commercials.

The multi-talented messenger has taken up his pen to complete the first in a planned series of autobiographies that details his painful early life stories as a southern Black man that miraculously brought himself from poverty to prosperity. The inaugural installment, “Up From Where We’ve Come,” is an up-close and intimate telling of the Wright family’s back-breaking struggles as sharecroppers near Clarksdale, Mississippi through the '40s and early '50s. Written in the raw dialects of how Blacks and Whites communicated during that era, it’s a riveting insider’s glimpse into the realities of the times.

Do we truly know the full extent of our history,” Charles challenges? “I’m willing to bet that most of us do not have the slightest idea. ‘Up From Where We’ve Comeis the history of me as a child growing up in the cotton fields of Mississippi at a time few, except people such as myself, remember. It’s an intimate slice of America’s history.

Remember — a pie is not complete until every slice is accounted for. ‘Up From Where We’ve Come is an important piece of history which every true American should seek to experience…especially those who are seeking the truth.”

Through his hindsight insights as an older/wiser man, Charles Wright imparts knowledge, culture and context in each of the tome’s 56 chapters. Along with the struggle there is the warmth of family and a love story that blossoms against all odds. ‘Up From Where We’ve Come’ emerges as a triumphant and highly unique literary statement from a man whose music has touched several generations.
People who’ve read my book always say, ‘I simply could not put it down,’ proclaims Wright, “and for this, I am so very thankful”.

LEGENDARY SINGER-SONGWRITER AND PRODUCER BUNNY SIGLER RELEASES NEW SINGLE TO RADIO “LAVADA” OUT January 25, 2016

“Lavada” marks the 3rd single from Bunny’s critically acclaimed CD, “Bundino”

(Los Angeles, CA) Four-time Grammy winning producer-singer-songwriter Bunny Sigler releases his third single “Lavada” from his critically acclaimed 2015 album Bundino January 25, 2016 with a YouTube premiere of January 26, 2016. The prolific songwriter who produced the “Philly Sound” engages his audience once again with this touching love song that brings to mind the influential R&B sound of the 90’s.

Sigler’s vocals soar on this soulful track written by Sigler and previous collaborator Phil Hurt. “Lavada,” as Bunny describes, is a “love song that expresses the feelings of a man who is reminded of his one true love everywhere he goes”. Sigler’s endearing lyrics and laid back approach flow with such ease in the middle on “Lavada’s” memorable chorus.

This captivating song recalls the deepest form of love – the infatuation one feels with the love of their life. Clocking in at almost five minutes, the song’s highlights include the slow build up at the four-minute mark and the layers of vocal harmonies.

Complete with soulful ballads, nostalgic and funky songs, and finally honing in on a contemporary sound, Bunny Sigler’s latest album Bundino delivers 14 brilliant R&B tracks. Released in May 2015, the album features Sigler’s signature croons and songwriting while paying homage to 50 year career in the music industry. Sigler also has a wide variety of videos available on his YouTube channel at: https://www.youtube.com/user/MrBunnySigler/.

“…Sigler has no problem with shaking things up, and he demonstrates his comfort with envelope pushing through Bundino.” –Soul Tracks
