“She Don’t Believe in Love” marks the first single from Charles’ forthcoming full-length album ‘Something to Make You Feel Good,’ available April 15

(Los Angeles, CA) – Charles Wright, soul music legend, author, and founding member of the Watts 103^rd Street Rhythm Band has released a new single, “She Don’t Believe in Love” from his forthcoming solo album, Something to Make You Feel Good. The single’s accompanying music video will be released soon via Charles Wright’s official YouTube channel. This single from the writer of the 70’s hit “Express Yourself” features a funky blend of classic and contemporary sounds that will excite new old and new fans.
Set to release on April 15^th, Charles Wright’s newest effort, Something to Make You Feel Good is one of the year’s most anticipated soul/funk/R&B albums. The 13 tracks showcase Charles’ legendary songwriting as well as his understated guitar lines and vocals. The lead single “She Don’t Believe in Love” is storytelling of a relationship and their attempts to reconcile their love. Wright conveys the pain of this situation not only through percussive guitars but also through his expressive vocals, which shine in a way that belies Wright’s fifty-year career in the music industry. The album will be released on Charles’ own label, A Million $ Worth Of Memories Records.
With the release of his first autobiography in a planned series of memoirs earlier this year, Charles Wright has become a critically acclaimed author. The book, entitled “Up From Where We’ve Come” tells the story of Wright’s upbringing in rural Mississippi in the 1940’s and early 1950’s. Howard Dukes of Soul Tracks raves that even though the book’s focus is removed from Wright’s music, “the story that he has to tell sings in its own way.”

Kwame Binea Shakedown’s self-titled debut EP OUT NOW!

New York, NY - ...Harlem-based roots rock songwriter/singer Kwame Binea, who fronts the Kwame Binea Shakedown, has announced the worldwide digital release of the group's debut and self-titled EP on Tuesday, July 17, 2015 via CDbaby.com and all their major digital distribution partners including  iTunes and Amazon.com.

"Kwame Binea Shakedown" features four tracks including the group's first single

 "Let Go" (released in early April), their most recent single, "Hang On" (released in mid-June) and  "Little Lady" and "Waiting," which have never been released. Musically, the EP showcases Binea's "roots rock" lineage, which is a fusion of rhythmic rock n' roll, ample dosages of infectious funk, silky soul, screaming blues and just a smidgeon of reggae and funk.

All the songs were written and produced by Binea and guitarist Justin Wilcox for Binea's indie imprint, Pelopos Entertainment Group. The EP was co-produced by Jerry Ramos and the Shakedown Band. The Shakedown band comprises; Binea on lead vocals, guitarist's Justin Wilcox and Art Vanterpool, drummer Medley Shabazz, bassist Phil Bass, Daron Wright on keyboards, Kengo Yamada and Michael Quigley on saxophone, Brian Varneke on trumpet and guest background vocalist's Dietrice Bolden and Jindai Joseph. The EP was recorded at SST Studios, Kaleidscope Studios and Mercury Studios, all located in New Jersey.

Binea and Wilcox have been intermittingly writing, recording and performing the songs over the past several years. "We've always viewed ourselves primarily as a live band" explained Kwame. "As writers, we're fueled by how our fans and audiences react to our songs. We take that energy and feedback  back into the studio and do our best to channel it into the songs we decide to record. This EP means a lot to us because it's driven by all the love and positivity our fans keep  giving us. It's our way of expressing  our appreciation and thanks for all their inspiration and support," he added.

Binea, grew up splitting time in West London (his birth place) and in his native origins, Ghana. He later moved to Cherry Hill, NJ as a teenager where he started to unearth his artistic aspirations as a burgeoning songwriter/singer/guitarist. While in college he teamed up with  guitarist/vocalist Justin Wilcox as a  duo, which became the nucleus that spawned the rock/funk  collective Kwame Shakedown in Harlem, NY (2011). Over the past several years they have built a legion of loyal fans performing at most of the city's most noted music venues including Joe's Pub, Arlene Grocery, Rockwood Music Hall and Brooklyn Bowl, to name just a few.

New York, NY - June 12, 2015...Harlem-based roots rock singer/songwriter Kwame Binea, who fronts the Kwame Binea Shakedown, has announced the worldwide digital release of their second single, "Hang On" for Tuesday, June 16, 2015 via CDbaby.com and all their major digital distribution partners including  iTunes and Amazon.com.

"Hang On" is catchy, upbeat, funk/rock/soul dance song layered with a poignant, hopeful and uplifting universal message that encourages "little brothers to hang on."

It was co-written and produced by Kwame Binea and guitarist Justin Wilcox for Binea's indie imprint, Pelopos Entertainment Group. The song also features the rest of Shakedown band, drummer Medley Shabazz, guitarist Art Vanterpool, bassist Phil Bass, Daron Wright on keyboards, Kengo Yamada and Michael Quigley on saxophone, Brian Varneke on trumpet, and guest background vocalists Dietrice Bolden and Jindai Joseph.

The video meshes live performance footage with compelling images that accentuate the broader symbolism and inspiration behind the song. The video was edited by Kate Peterson.

"I really wanted to create an anthem-like track to encourage young brothers to keep their heads up and never stop believing in themselves," explains Binea. "These are tough times and a lot of our young people are a bit lost and aren't getting the level of support they need. So, just trying to give them some of the same kind of positive reinforcement and encouragement I received growing up," he added.

"Hang On" follows the group's debut single/video "Let Go" (released in April). The video was culled from a Kwame Binea Shakedown live performance at the Brooklyn Bowl earlier this year.
