LUKAS NELSON & PROMISE OF THE REAL SET TO EMBARK ON “THE WASTED TOUR”

Dates Set To Begin In May In Support of Just Released New Album

Los Angeles- For the past few years, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real have not left a stage without gaining a dozen new fans and more accolades from music critics nationwide. Reverb magazine wrote of a recent Denver show, “The largely female, enthusiastic crowd kept their eyes open, because Nelson’s energetic stage presence is a treat. He’s an affable performer with an infectious grin, and his guitar solos are often punctuated with leaps — the kid catches some serious air.”

Other shows have garnered similar praise. The Baltimore Sun extols, “pounding out vibrant blues/rock riffs with propulsive flair…Nelson and his band had the audience on its feet by the end of their set.” The Salt Lake City Weekly calls their live shows “electrifying performances,” while Fort Worth Weekly notes that the band “blows away crowds at every opportunity.”

And now Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real are set to start a new year of touring with “The Wasted Tour.” Named for their second full-length album, Wasted, which was released this week and that No Depression touted as “the first great album of Lukas Nelson’s career. He pulls no punches and gives his listeners a lot of credit to weather the ups and downs of this often intense and challenging music.”

Lukas Nelson jokes about what the live hubbub is all about: “It’s Tato’s sex appeal! He just gets the women excited,” laughs the singer-songwriter-guitarist of his percussionist Tato Melgar. But, seriously, Nelson says their much talked about live shows are simply a result of giving 100% “And maybe we’re just lucky to have been struck by a source of inspiration that a lot of people connect with,” he says.

Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real is taking that inspiration to the stage for a series of record release shows in April, including a performance on the Late Show with David Letterman the evening of the release of the album which you can see here: http://youtu.be/gM0dNzD3wVU. Following will be their first big tour, “The Wasted Tour,” on May 2. The first leg of that tour will run for 35 dates through June 16. The band has been playing some of the album’s tracks live already, such “The Joint,” which recently reached #1 on Skydog’s Red Dirt Radio (reddirtradio.blogspot.com), as well as the first single and title track, “Wasted,” and other album tracks, “Can You Hear Me Love You” (which features Nelson’s sister Amy on vocals on the record), “Don’t Take Me Back,” and “Wasn’t That Great.” Though, the hope is to eventually play the band’s entire debut full-length, 2010’s Promise of the Real, and all of Wasted. “These songs are really jammy and really fun to play live,” adds drummer Anthony LoGerfo, who, along with bassist Corey McCormick, rounds out the four-piece rock band.

Of the band’s live magic, LoGerfo explains, “I think it just comes from some sort of light, some sort of spirit. I truly believe that. This band is about giving the message of love and giving the message of living. So when we get up there we want to just go for it 100% and give everything we have. Otherwise, there is no reason for us to be there. We don’t have a bunch of bells and whistles, like tracks and fire blowing up onstage. It’s just the four of us, but we make up for it with our energy.”
