Blues Legend Marcia Ball and Billboard Chart Topper Margo Rey to Rock Houston’s Bayou City Art Festival in Memorial Park

(Houston, TX - March 24, 2014) - Houston Mayor Annise Parker’s challenge to cultivate a new cultural plan for Houston has been accepted by the The Art Colony Association, Producer of the Bayou City Art Festivals. This year, the organization will present a new, expanded main stage on the Bayou City Art Festival site; The 2014 unLimited Stage will host stellar acts from Blues to Adult Contemporary to Rock and Roll.  The festival will run from March 28th through March 30th, and mark the biggest ever endeavor to date, with over 400 artists from 19 different art mediums presenting their work.  For tickets go to: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/bayou-city-art-festival-memorial-park-2014-tickets-8464855611

On Saturday, March 29th,  Margo Rey will treat the festival goers to her own brand of adult contemporary music, including her hit songs “Let the Rain,” written with John Oates,  and “Habit.”  Preceding Margo Rey will be South Texas Bluesman Reno Perez, John Lennon Songwriting Contest Winner Shawn Pander, and violinist Omar Lopez.
Marcia Ball’s special performance on Sunday March 30th comes after a run of concerts from Hawaii to Europe. The Boston Globe described her music as "an irresistible celebratory blend of rollicking, two-fisted New Orleans piano, Louisiana swamp rock and smoldering Texas blues.” Preceding Ball is Hell Bent featuring bluesman Johnny Nicholas with 5-time Grammy winner and steel guitar Hall of Famer Cindy Cashdollar.
Closing the festival on Sunday will be The Soul Supporters featuring Barbara Lynn, the left-handed guitar player who’s song “You’ll Lose a Good Thing” was a number 1 US Billboard R&B chart hit and Top 10 Billboard Hot 100 hit. Her songs have been recorded by the likes of Aretha Franklin and Freddy Fender, and sampled by Moby.  Barbara Lynn was awarded a Pioneer Award by the Rhythm and Blues Foundation.

ABOUT COVENANT HOUSE:

Covenant House opened its doors in 2000 to provide shelter and services to Atlanta’s homeless and runaway youth.  For over a decade, the organization has dedicated their services to helping young people suffering from homelessness, sexual exploitation, involved in drug-dealing, theft and other anti-social activities.  More than 15,000 youth have received support from CHGA since 2000.  Currently, more than 1300 homeless and at-risk youth are given support and help every year.  The waiting list, at times, is dishearteningly long.  Covenant House Georgia is a full partner of Covenant House International, the largest privately funded agency in the United States providing shelter and services to homeless and at-risk youth.

Covenant House Georgia is the only program of its kind in Georgia serving homeless kids every night between midnight and 8:00 AM. Five nights a week, our Outreach Van visits some of the most distressed neighborhoods of Atlanta, seeking out sexually exploited youth, drug dealers, and gang members in the hopes of saving a life.  Since opening the Center on Broad Street in 2006, more than 10,000 young people have walked through the doors looking for assistance with shelter, food, clothing, education, and employment. Every day young men and women have come here in search of crisis counseling, employment, a GED diploma, or a safe place to sleep.

Erika Jayne's "Give You Everything" Tops Billboard's Dance Club Chart--Placement Marks Third Time At #1 For The Pop-Dance Sensation

“Flirt-y girl Erika Jayne follows up her number one club hits "Stars" and "Rollercoaster," with this funky discopop confection.”
– Ron Slomowitz, Dancemusic.about.com about “Give You Everything”

ERIKA JAYNE—singer, songwriter and dance pop sensation—has just scored a truly notable achievement in the music world. The Atlanta-born, Los Angeles transplant has landed her third #1 hit on Billboard’s Dance Club Play chart with the alluring “Give You Everything” on the eve of the August 11 release of her debut album Pretty Mess via E1 Music. This success comes on the heels the #1 dance smashes “Roller Coaster” and “Stars” by the glamorous artist who reels you in with her alluring vocals and catchy melodies and electro beats, not to mention an infectious taste of decadence.

Her Billboard chart success is extraordinary with her experiencing success prior to album release that is not often seen by emerging artists. Check out the video for “Give You Everything” directed by Grammy-nominated video director Marty Thomas and choreographed by Mikey Minden (The Pussycat Dolls) at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hfrsd3ICBA/ and the ‘making of’ EPK that captures her vibrant persona here: http://rcpt.yousendit.com/712979108/e5da7925659a59edd1c9af30e02bc329

“I’ve had such a wonderful time with this song,” states JAYNE. “From conceiving it with co-writer and producer Peter Rafelson, to creating its video with Marty Thomas highlighting a really great dance sequence from Mikey Minden, plus having the honor of performing it at Gay Pride celebrations in both LA and San Francisco, I’m just tickled to see it go #1!”

Pretty Mess is produced and co-written with some of today’s most in-demand and talented producers--heavyweights Peter Rafelson (Madonna, Britney Spears, Stevie Nicks), Eric Kupper (Shakira, Destiny’s Child, Kylie Minogue), Esthero (under the name Pinklake), Jahi Lake (Chris Brown) and Ike Dirty (Lil’ Scrappy, Ying Yang Twins)--and showcases her talent as both a singer and a songwriter with tracks spanning from rhythmic pop and dance to chill electronic ballads. The album includes a nod to Prince, one of Jayne’s biggest influences, with a cover of his protégé Apollonia’s hit “Sex Shooter” as well as a guest appearance from legendary percussionist Sheila E on the track “Time to Realize,” in addition to the stellar aforementioned #1 club tracks. Dance pop aficionados are keen to the dance floor mixes from Moto Blanco, Mike Rizzo, DJ Escape & Johnny Vicious and Dave Audé.

Meanwhile, fans can catch ERIKA’s striking live performance which has dazzled audiences at both the Los Angeles and San Francisco Gay Pride celebrations in these glittering locales surrounding the release of Pretty Mess:
