The accompanying music video will also
be available on June 3rd.
The critically acclaimed jazz collective Sasha’s Bloc has teamed up with the
ten-time Grammy-winning vocal group Take
6 to release their new single, “Runaway
Blues.” This enticing track blends the big band jazz sound from Sasha’s
Bloc with the smooth gospel tones of Take 6 and will be available digitally on
June 3. The single’s accompanying music video, which documents the groups’
recording session at the legendary Capitol
Records, will also be available on June 3.
“Runaway
Blues” features a sound that is a slight departure from the traditional
1920’s-40’s style big band arrangements that Sasha’s Bloc has become known for.
With lead vocals by Take 6 member Alvin
Chea and lush harmonies provided by both the smooth voices of Take 6 and
the Sasha’s Bloc ensemble, “Runaway Blues” is a jazz, gospel, and blues
crossover that is sure to strike a chord with fans of any of these genres.
“Runaway Blues” is a story about life, love, and the ability to be honest with
yourself. The song was recorded live at Capitol Records, in a room that Sasha’s
Bloc bassist and bandleader Alex
Gershman describes as “very much
alive… It gives you goosebumps to think you were in the same room as legends
such as Frank Sinatra.”
Alex
Gershman has previously collaborated with Alvin Chea from Take 6, on Sasha’s Bloc’s
recent and well-received second album, Heart
On Fire. Gershman says that he was thinking for a long time about combining
all the elements he loves from jazz, blues, and gospel. When looking for
collaborators to make Runaway Blues a reality, Gershman notes that he didn’t
have to look far. “[While] writing this
song I had Take 6 in my mind all the time,” he says.
The
new music video for “Runaway Blues” features the musicians from both groups in
the process of recording the track live at Capitol Records. Directed by Alex Chaloff with cinematography by Ricky Chavez, Nick Brosco, and Alejandro
Echevarria, the video captures the magic that Sasha’s Bloc and Take 6
brought to the legendary studio.

ACCLAIMED ARTIST RACHAEL SAGE RELEASES NEW ALBUM CHOREOGRAPHIC TODAY
baroque strings and off-kilter but memorable percussion…fueled
by triumph and feminine resilience.” - Baeble Music
New York, NY (May 20, 2016): Award-winning singer/songwriter Rachael Sage‘s full-length studio album, “Choreographic”, is available today via MPress Records/ILS/Caroline. Through this self-described “ballet-pop”, Sage delivers a musically ambitious and emotionally accessible tribute to her very first love: Dance. Fresh off the heels of her 16th song placement on Lifetime TV’s Dance Moms, Sage’s music has reached an ever-widening audience since her previous release “Blue Roses”, amassing over 9.5 million views on YouTube. On disarmingly honest songs like “I Don’t Believe It”, “Heaven” and “French Doors”, incisive lyrics and yearning melodies merge into something expansive. The lexicon of ballet may be French, but in Sage’s hands on “Choreographic”, ballet-pop becomes a decidedly universal musical language.
Connecting to her roots in ballet, the NYC-based Sage “envisioned each song as a fully-choreographed multi-media experience” while crafting the album. The result is an inspired set of piano-based chamber-pop merging orchestral elements with her signature blend of folk, pop and rock. “Making this album was a meditation on my lifelong relationship to ballet and more recently, to lyrical dance. Dance gave me virtually everything I cherish as an artist: melody, expressiveness, a sense of ensemble, a love of costume and fashion, and foremost, discipline.” Sage has several dance-centric videos in the works including one for the single “I Don’t Believe It”, which explores the topic of bullying and will feature 3-time national dance champion Kaci King, an eleven-year-old performer who reached out to Sage on Facebook.
ABOUT RACHAEL SAGE:
A soulful vocalist and innovative multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter and producer Rachael Sage has become one of the busiest touring artists in independent music, performing 100+ dates a year with her band The Sequins throughout the US, UK, Europe and Asia. Sage has shared stages with Sarah McLachlan, A Great Big World, Judy Collins, Shawn Colvin, Marc Cohn, Jamie Cullum, The Animals and Ani DiFranco.
