Shawn Colvin, Sammy Hagar, Richard Marx and Pat Monahan Join
Ann and Nancy Wilson for HEART’s First-Ever Holiday Concert
LOS ANGELES, NOV. 21, 2013 – AXS TV has one more present for its audience to unwrap on Christmas
night when the Network broadcasts the first-ever holiday concert by GRAMMY® Award-winning and
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee HEART. HEART’s Ann and Nancy Wilson are
returning to their hometown of Seattle to stage a celebration of the season,
gathering a few of their friends to join them in singing holiday classics,
personal favorites and some of their own hits in the one-hour broadcast, HEART & FRIENDS: HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS,
on Wed., Dec. 25 (Christmas) at 8 p.m ET (5 p.m. PT.)
Shawn Colvin, Sammy Hagar, Richard Marx and Pat Monahan from
Train will join HEART for this once-in-a-lifetime concert which will be taped
on Dec. 12 at the beautiful Benaroya Symphony Concert Hall in Seattle. The
Wilson sisters will sing an array of holiday songs written by Joni Mitchell,
Harry Nilsson, Bob Dylan and Hagar in their Christmas set as well as some of
HEART’s favorite songs. Colvin, Hagar, Marx and Monahan will provide additional
vocals on the tunes and/or sing duets with HEART.
HEART & FRIENDS: HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS will showcase two songs
recently recorded by Ann and Nancy that were released as a “double-A sided”
single on iTunes. Ann has re-made the soulful Elvis Presley and Eagles hit
“Please Come For Christmas” into a rhythm and blues song with Aaron Neville. As
part of the concert, she will perform it as a duet with Monahan. Nancy wrote a
new arrangement for the yuletide tune “All Through The Night,” a traditional
Welsh folksong, with backing vocals by Marx. Marx will perform it with her at
the holiday concert. To listen to Ann and Nancy’s new songs, visit http://bit.ly/HXSlgP.
“We couldn’t have passed up this wonderful opportunity to
celebrate the season with two of the most talented rock ‘n roll artists ever,
Ann and Nancy Wilson of HEART,” said AXS TV Founder Mark Cuban. “Having Shawn
Colvin, Sammy Hagar, Richard Marx and Pat Monahan join them for this holiday
special makes it the perfect gift for our audience to enjoy on Christmas
night.”
Ann Wilson added, “We are thrilled and delighted to be
joined by our band and our friends on stage to ring in the holiday season for
our fans everywhere.”
HEART & FRIENDS: HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS ends a prolific and
award-winning year for HEART, who have been enjoying a resurgence of popularity
since 2010’s Red Velvet Car which became the group’s first Top 10 album in
20 years. Many successful live shows and
tours (including a 2011 tour with Def Leppard, and their 2013 Heartbreaker tour)
have occurred with 2012 seeing the release of Strange Euphoria, a
definitive career-spanning box set; the arrival of Kicking and Dreaming: A Story of
Heart, Soul, and Rock and Roll, a best-selling autobiography; the
announcement of Ann and Nancy Wilson’s HEART star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
and the release of Fanatic, HEART’s 14th studio album. And adding to
their list of awards, HEART was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last
April.
